Offset, one of the members of the popular rap group Migos, has unveiled a massive tattoo on his back in honor of his late bandmate and cousin, Takeoff. The new ink, which covers the entirety of his back, was revealed on Instagram on Saturday and features an incredibly detailed portrait of Takeoff wearing multiple gold chains while surrounded by a black-and-white galaxy print, a rocket, and a planet.
Takeoff, whose real name was Kirsnick Khari Ball, was tragically shot and killed outside a bowling alley in Houston, Texas, in November 2022. Since then, the rapper has been commemorated with a celebration of life at Atlanta's State Farm Arena, as well as with performances and tracks dedicated to him.
Offset, who is no stranger to tattoos, is known for his love of body art and has even gotten some ink from his wife, Cardi B. However, this latest tattoo is his first major artistic tribute to Takeoff. The rapper has previously shared an emotional letter on Instagram expressing his grief and disbelief at his cousin's death.
Other big names in the music industry, such as collaborator Rich the Kid, have also paid tribute to Takeoff with tattoos. Rich the Kid got a hand tattoo featuring Takeoff's name in a much more minimalist design than Offset's back portrait.
The death of Takeoff has had a profound impact on both the music industry and the Migos group. This new tattoo is a poignant reminder of the talented rapper and a testament to the deep bond between Offset and Takeoff.
